Excellent - will go again
The location is great. You can walk over to the lake. We went to the Abbey to relax, and that's exactly what we did! Very relaxing atmosphere. ...
The Abbey is a short, pleasant drive from Chicago. First impression was great. The lobby, public areas and grounds are beautiful. We were there out of season so the outdoor activities were not open and some restaurants/bars were also closed but the resort is gorgeous, the spa is amazing and the indoor pool was fine. Dinner at Fontana Grill was excellent and well worth the price. Room was great, nicely decorated and immaculately clean. Beds are very high and mattress was comfortable. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. It was perfect for a 3day/2night spring break get away. We plan to return during Summer or Fall to enjoy the outdoor activities and other amenities.
The hotel had just went under new mangement and no one in the building can give you a straight answer about anything the waitstaff is extremly slow and disorganized
The abbey has been renovated and is very nice, however they added a hotle ammenity charge to my bill of (12.00 for a newspaper internet service use of bicycles, and local phone usage in which we did not use or get. On Sunday morning you have no choice but to get there brunch even though they have two resturants. 30.00 for adult 15.00 for kids. Give me a break.
My husband and I stayed at the Abbey for our 5 year Anniversary. The room, and hotel were very clean, and the indoor pool was great. The staff was very nice. On our way to Lake Geneva we were in a small accident and they did what they could to make sure we received a Tow Truck, and we were comfortable when we waited. They were very helpful..I would recommend this resort for everyone...
This hotel is newly remodeled and very very clean. There are alot of activities in the nearby area. Very affordable. The spa is so peaceful, agreat place to unwind. Save money and get a food room package.
Overall a good experience. The rooms are very nicely done. The hotel services fee is an annoyance which is not included in their room rate. We selected a pool view room, which turned out to be nicer than expected - a view of a large courtyard with two pools (kids waterpark, and adults only pool/whirlpool). The restaraunts in the hotel were ok, but a little pricey. Hotel staff were all very friendly and accomodating. Contrary to other reviews, the hotel had a lot of staff on hand. All 3 pool areas were fairly nice. I didn't see areas in need of updating. Overall a great experience
