Check in the worst,

 by  anonymous  on  2008-04-29

If you check in during the week, expect to carry your own bags to your room. weekend only bell boys. Who ever heard of such a thing? Check in was so slow. checked out, the system was down. Will never go back again. Some staff not friendly at all, and some very rude.

Check in the worst,

Accidentally left cothing in the closet and when I called to ask for help, the desk hung up on me three times saying "not my problem". Stay at the Frenchman's Reef.

Paradise Lost

My boyfriend and I stayed at Bluebeards for five nights. Upon checking in they did not have our reservation. Luckily I had my reservation information and they honored it . We had to switch rooms halfway through our stay, on sunday, which wasn't ideal but again for the price we paid we were understanding. The day of the room switch we treated very rudely and one of the staff said that this isn't a hotel but a time share so don't expect a hotel service. On monday we switched rooms, the room we were moved to was much smaller then our first room and the aircondtioner sounded like a semi truck was coming through our window everytime it turned on. We had other friends coming that were staying for a shorter time and arrive on Satruday. They booked their trip through Online travel. Bluebeards would NOT honor their reservation. They said that they do not accept Online travel and will nto give them a room. The front desk refused to speak with the agent from Online travel. Luckily Online travel was able to rebook them at another nearby hotel. My advice is if you do choose to book at Bluebeards book through their online website and not through hotwire, Online travel and other discount travel sites. They will treat you rudely and may not even honor your reservation. The time share itself isn't bad. the location to Charlotte Amelie is good and has a very nice view. It could use some modern updating etc but its clean and for the price its not bad.

You will read that this hotel is on the water. They're right, you have a great view of the cruise ship docks but have to take a taxi to the beach, a 15 minute drive away minimum, this wouldn't be bad except all the taxi's charge per person and anywhere you go is a 6 minimum per person plus 2 per bag. It would have cost me 40 to go to the beach and back. We moved to the Marriot after 1 night it was much better! Not to mention the problem that there is only 1 restaurant within walking distance to the hotel, it's in the hotel and called "Room With a View". It has a great view, but is very overpriced for bad food and not so good service. We spent almost 60 for a dinner for two that was really bad. Also if you use a debit or credit card there be forewarned they EXPECT you to leave a 20% tip and they preauthorize your card accordingly. So if you must eat there, pay cash or plan on not having the money available to you for about 5 days.A note in general about St Thomas, bring a lot of money for bad food. Our best meal was at the downtown Wendy's, yes THE Wendy's. Otherwise we spent on average 20 each for a regular meal including breakfast. Most of the beaches were great except Coki beach. It boasts the best snorkeling on the island. There was great snorkeling but the sand was very coarse and the water got deep quickly. As you walk down the beach you are hounded by people trying to sell you something. Also there was a territorial shouting match between two sales people with a lot of cursing as we arrived.

We arrived and had to search for the Registration Desk, which was an UP HILL deal. When we got to the desk, the lady was very rude and matter of factly speaking to us. I asked about internet access and was told there was NONE available. Most cites I had looked at said they Did have access. The pool needed to be re-plastered badly, their was 1 restaurant on the grounds and it didn't open till late in the day and was closed all together on Monday nights. No free suttles to anywhere at anytime. You are on your own as far as transportation. No assistance with luggage or anything. You check in and then you are on your own! The exercise room was closed along with the second restaurant. Some guy had set up a art studio for himself in it. Their was junk hanging on all the training machines and it looked like a war had been taken place in there. NO way would I ever go back there!

The room and view were great. Walking down to the room via stairs and 90 degree temp with luggage was not. Cabs were not available; only one restaurant was open; staff at the desk were rude
