what IT IS !

We decided to call this hotel a base for our first in the USVI as we were staying at a resort in ST JOHNS - hotel was ver yclose to the airport and the planes WERE NO problem at all (noise) the grounds were very well manicured and kept, yes the rooms were a little outdated but clean and the pool was fantastic and resort like.Best thing about the hotel was that our ground floor room was less than 50 ft to the water, beach clean safe.WOULD not recommend this hotel for a weeks vacation but as for you first our last night stay - as mentioned we stayed first day we arrived on STT- we arrived at 130 pm , was in roonm by 215pm and on beach @ 245pm- is great to shop st thomas at night get a good nites rest then head to ST JOHNS resort for your vacation

Beach was great - clean water - very refreshing. Waves were not strong enough for boogey boards but good for swimming. Rooms were ok. Food was pricey - Sunday buffet was good but expensive. The hotel was close enough to other restaurants if you like to walk or even take a bus. Noise from the airport was tolerable - did not hear airplanes at night. I would stay here again. Hotel people were friendly and helpful.

I have been staying at Emerald Beach every December for the past 15 + years and would not think of moving to another location. Although located near the airport, the air traffic does not intrude and it is easy to just roll your suitcase down the sidewalk to the hotel. The beach is one of the best on the island and not overcrowded like Magens--nor is there a charge to use it. The bay is protected--perfect for children to play in the sand and for adults to sun and relax. Snokeling provides another activity. The pool is kept in prestine condition.Every room has a balcony overlooking the beach. Value-wise, you cannot find another hotel on the island that has such a great beach. When I was there in December 2007 rooms were being updated with new paint, bathroom fixtures, plasma televisions and bedding.Food on the island is not cheap but remember, everything must be brought in to the island. Gocery stores nearby can help cut expenses, but there are wonderful restaurants on the island that are well worth the expense and are no more expensive than excellent restaurants in our USA cities. Eat out at lunch when prices are cheaper and then snack at dinner. The BBQ stands that open at night are great deals with ribs, chicken and brisket meals "to go."Rental cars may be the answer for many, but I hate the traffic and parking hassles. Town is just a bus(infrequent but cheap) or safari open-air "taxi"(1.00 from the end of the runway) away. As far as the staff is concerned, I have only found great helpfulness. A five-star resort Emerald Beach isn't, but it is a five-star great deal!

Stayed here as part of a package. Walkable from airport. Good beach. Contrary to Web site, no free local calls or free breakfast, Per staff the lobby PC hasn't worked for months, no alarm clock in room, refrigerator leaked on floor, beds old & soft as a marshmellow, restaurant very expensive. Don't stay here or you will regret it !

We have been staying at this hotel twice a year, for the last six years. They are finally upgrading the decor and rooms with new beds and fresh paint, the grounds are being manicured nicely. This is a great place to stay, off the beaten path, it is close to airport, and the most beautiful beach on St. Thomas, Lindbergh Bay is breathtaking at sunset. I would not stay anywhere else on the island.

Decent hotel

My daughter and I flew to St. Thomas to gather information on the options of having a wedding in St. Thomas. We spent three days ( * in taxi fees ) traveling from resort to resort speaking with coordinators and gathering their pricing information. The last evening of our stay we put the folders on top of the dresser and went to dinner....when we returned the folders were GONE. I spent at total of * to collect this information and it was gone. I called the desk immediately and they said they would check into it. The next day I called them back and they said the maid saw it but didn't touch it. My daughter and I were devistated. I went to the office and all I got there was " I'm sorry, if we find it we will mail it to you". I asked to speak to the manager" X" and he wouldn't even come out of his office ... it was time to leave for our plane and we left empty handed. It was just papers, but they could have been more helpful and even offered to help regather the information....
