Outstanding get away!

 by  anonymous  on  2008-07-23

WOW 300 words cant explain this place but I will try. Well first off me and my boyfriend are deployed so we were in need of a far off vaction no family bugging us to go here and do this and that just a getaway to relax and enjoy eachother...Secret Harbour was the place! This resort is away from the busy streets and on top of that has the nicest beach on St Thomas. We had a beachfront room which could had easily slept 6 people great for families. The hotel front desk staff were so great always helping us out wit places to eat when we didnt eat at the Blue Moon which is on the grounds. The food there is good just needs to have more on the menu or change the menu up but the food is great.... try the Crab cakes :) The bar staff was also GREAT the drinks were always good! The beach was amazing.....the water was perfect and great for snorkeling heck the angel fish stayed close to shore so you could see them just standing in the water. Warning the wildlife there, if u scared of everything like me lizards and Iguanas roam free. There is no where really that you wanna walk to the Taxi service is great but they charge 5 a head to and from so be aware, there is no way I would have rented a car there due to the hills and just crazy driving. Oh I cant forget Heidi.....she gives the massages there well worth every dollar....AMAZING!!!!! Well in closing I plan on doing this trip again I plan to be there next year didnt wanna leave....AMAZING resort! A must book !

If you're looking for a resort that places mints on your pillows and does everything but wipe your nose, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for the ultimate getaway, nestled into a quiet, beautiful beach with all of the comforts of home, Secret Harbor will tickle your fancy. My husband and I stayed in one of the studio suites, which accomodated all we had expected and more. The rooms are clean and the staff is fantastic! The snorkling is out of this world and does not require a long swim offshore in order to see some of the most specatular aquatic life. The Blue Moon Cafe is stellar for both its barefoot bar and diningroom. Bartenders Keith and Rob will make you feel like you've walked into Cheers, island style, and if you enjoy a killer cocktail, I recommend asking for either a Blue Donkey or Goombay Smash. All of the wait staff at the Blue Moon were also wonderful, but I highly recommend asking for Paulo who will make your dining experience the most elegent and pleasurable. As you can see, my husband and I were quite pleased with this resort and would recommend it to anyone. Red Hook is only a 5 minute cab ride away for shopping or ferry access. The only negative experience we had was the mosquitos, but that's to be expected in the tropical environment.

Secret Harbour - Great Place for Family Vacations

 by  anonymous  on  2008-05-09

My sister and I stayed 4-nights at Secret Harbor in May 2008. The reason - my husband had given me the money to purchase a piece of jewelry for our 28th wedding anniversay in August of last year. He passed away 2-days before our anniversary. Needless to say, we didn't make our planned trip to St. Thomas. When I was finally able to make the trip, my wonderful sister agreed to accompany me. I settled on Secret Harbor mainly because of the reviews and the pictures. The 1-Bedroom/2Bath condominium we stayed in was at the top of the hill with one of the most fantastic views! The many steps one needs to climb to access this unit might not be for everyone, but I wouldn't hesitate to return. We snorkeled just off the beach which was just truly lovely! The swim platform served as a great area in which to take a little breather. There are some nice rock formations just off to the side which allows some nice fish viewing. The on-site scuba shop will assist with trips and rentals - we did rent the fins, masks, and snorkels. The on-site restaurant is one of the best on St. Thomas. We had several great meals there. Reservations are suggested. We showed up one night without them and the gal said they were full. Hmmm! Lots of seats available too! I went to the front office and had them call to make reservations within 5-minutes. We walked back to the restaurant and voila! we were shown to a table. Go figure! There's another restaurant not too far from the resort...an Irish name. It's pretty good. All in all - this was a fantastic place to stay. I might check out the beach front units next time though!

Outstanding get away!

If you're looking for a big and fancy resort with all the amenities, this is not it. If you're looking for a comfortable relaxing beach vacation to just veg, this is it. We stayed in a beachfront studio with a kitchen. Our friends had 1 bedroom units with plenty of room for gathering, however their bedrooms were on the backside, so hearing the surf at nite was not an option for them. We picked up food at Food _____ to fix for breakfasts, light meals and snacks (be ready for sticker shock at food prices). We picked up our booze at the airport upon arrival, which sure saved on the bar tab. The liquor store gave us free tastes. I got hooked on Cruz Black Cherry Rum and Vanilla Rum over ice. YMMM! The beach was WONDERFUL! Plenty of sun and plenty of shade available...and never crowded. The water is clear blue with good snorkeling. A drawback was that you had to take a cab anywhere you went, since the windy and hilly roads were too dangerous to walk. At 5 per person each way to Red Hook and 10 to Charlotte Amalie, it adds up real fast. None of us felt comfortable enough to rent a car. Also watch your airport arrival and departure times, as taxi's charge a lot more in the early AM and late PM. We attended a wedding and the planners did a wonderful job from the guest point of view. The beach wedding was beautifully done and the reception food at the Blue Moon Restaurant was great. The photogapher was very patient and took time to set up for what I'm sure will be breathtaking pictures. Take a ferry to St. John and take a tour of the island...beautiful beaches.

Secret Harbour - Great Place for Family Vacations

My husband and I escaped to St Thomas to get married on this trip! We were immediately amazed by the island, and were floored when we saw our hotel room. I truly think we ended up with the best view on the entire island, and stayed in the most incredible room! The view was FANTASTIC!!! We made a point to eat breakfast out there every morning to soak in the breathtaking views. The staff were all great, and the manager's party was a hoot. We frequented the Blue Moon cafe, and sampled all that we could! The beach was by far my favorite, and the snorkeling was mind-blowing! ( we swam with sea turtles, sting ray, and tons of friendly fish) We have every intention of returning as often as possible! Thanks to Secret Harbour for making our wedding and honeymoon dreams come true!

We'll be back!

When my husband and I decided to visit the Virgin Islands we were unsure about our stay at Secret Harbour. Please do not let the lobby/entrance fool you. It definetly needs to be remodeld however, our room/condo was absoutely amazing. it is perfect for a family of 4. Two bathrooms in each condo, kitchen and every room has a private balcony with an ocean view. The view is absolutely breathtaking. All the resorts on the island are on the east side which means you are 30-35 minutes away from Havensight, the main shopping area. A cab ride there will cost you 10 or more per person. Redhook is only 5 minutes away but cabs are 5 per person. So if you are a large family you will save by renting a car. I definetly recomend the Blue Moon Cafe Restaurant and Bar. Very freindly service although I would have liked to see more variety on the menu. If you are eating outside the resort you must try the conch fritters. Yummy. We ate at "Off The Hook" (RedHook) and "Wikked" (Havensight) both great food. However feel free to stop at the Market in Redhook and stock up your kitchen. As far as activities goes, I definetly recommend you visit St. John. We toured the Island and went to Coral Beach (water is so clear you can see your feet). Havensight has a lot more to offer than Redhook. We did the Atlantis Submarine adventure which was great. I wish the resort had some water sports to offer but other than that everything was perfect. I would definetly come back with my family although next time I will rent a car. Food is pretty expensive although I am from NY so we are used to the prices.
