ROACHES,MOLD, OH MY!
Could not have had a worse experience. Roaches were crawling everywhere.,Every time you opened a drawer,or moved something there they were! Rooms were dirty, furniture was broken, It was just horrible. I booked with Travel online thank goodness! They stood behind their guarantee to make things right if you were not satisfied. When I called them to complain they immediately moved us to another Hotel. It was MUCH better and The staff and Management were wonderful. It was the Hibiscus and I will be posting on that site as well. The only thing Caravelle has going for it is location. They boast of many ammenities, but have few.... I realize it is an old hotel but it could still be CLEAN, and they could exterminate. I have been to ST.Croix 30 times in the past 4 yrs. and I am in the process of moving there, but this is the FIRST and LAST time at HOTEL CARAVELLE.
ROACHES,MOLD, OH MY!
Travel to St. Croix on business at least once every few months. Hotel is located within walking distance to all the shopping and great restaurants and it is the only hotel in Christiansted that has parking for all its guests. The Restaurant at the hotel is one of the best on the island and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the hotel staff is very nice and helpful.
hotel caravelle
Very trashy, dirty, and noisy. The paint on the walls in my room was bubbled out wtih mold. The ceiling had water marks all over. The table had chunks out of it. There was a horrible moldy smell in the room that I am still coughing from. The toilet seat was blistered and dirty. I will not be staying at this hotel ever again!
I don't spend much time in a hotel when I'm on vacation, so bear that in mind when i say that I enjoyed my stay. The staff, layout, and restaurant accentuated the experience; proximity to shopping and walking was perfect. The restaurant was well priced and located right on the dock with crabs darting out of the water to entertain. The staff not only remembered our names but respected our privacy. The accomodations were modest, but clean and expected for the area. Well done, I look forward to our return.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE STAYED AT HOTEL CARAVELLE. BOTH TIMES WE HAD GOOD VISITS. IT IS CENTRALLY LOCATED TO 3 RESTUARANTS, DIVE BOAT PICKS YOU UP IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL. HOTEL ROOMS ARE NICE SIZED- NOTHING FANCY BUT THEY ARE CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE. HOTEL STAFF FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. GREAT SHOPPING ALL AROUND. THIS TRIP A/C IN THE ROOM WASN'T COOLING WENT TO THE FRONT DESK AND IMMEDIATELY HAD A REPAIRMAN. HE WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE A/C SO WE WERE IMMEDIATELY MOVED TO ANOTHER ROOM. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR VALUE AND DON'T NEED ANYTHING FANCY THIS IS THE PLACE. VERY GOOD FOR DIVERS.WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN ON OUR NEXT TRIP TO ST. CROIX
We were in St Croix for business and a little vacation and we did not want to spend a lot of money staying at the bigger resorts, so we tried hotel Caravelle. We were pleasantly surprised at the clean, fresh smell of our room! We have stayed at MANY Caribbean hotels and 5-star resorts and so many of them have that musty, damp smell ! This may sound like a small problem but it truly crerates an unpleasant stay. Our room at HC was clean, bright and very simply, but nicely decorated, The staff was so kind and helpful, always asking if everything was ok, and assisting us with all of our needs. There is a wonderful restaurant on premises with excellent and affordably priced food. At HC you are centrally located at the boardwalk in Christiansted, with access to all of the wonderful shops, restaurants, and bars...all within very close walking distance(a block or two!).Since HC is in town, there is no immedeiate beach, but beautiful views of the ocean and a nice pool. Most visitors tend to rent cars so there are many gorgrous beaches in close driving proximity. We also met many Danish people who return to this hotel every year because it is so affordable and clean. Unless you need immediate access to the beach, HC is a good value.
