Not my idea of a Resort
The hotel facilities were average (there was definitely a need for some maintenance/updating in the rooms) but the staff was unbelievably bad. With a couple of exceptions, the staff seemed to have the idea that having guests at the hotel was a nuisance that they would rather not deal with. The food was not bad in the restaurants but it was very hard to get. On three occasions we walked into the main restaurant only to be told that they were closing (despite being within the posted hours - the actual closing times seemed to be random). When we did finally get a table at the Starlite restaurant, it took over an hour to get served and they had missed one of the items my wife had ordered. In terms of amenities, they have a lot of watersports equipment available but other than that, there isn't a lot to do. My teenage kids tried to go to the game room but virtually everything in there was out of order (other than one air hockey table). The beach is nice but the water isn't great for swimming. I can't personally compare this hotel to others on the island (this was my first time in St.Croix) but several locals I spoke to recommended other hotels so I would look at alternatives unless you definitely want to be close to the casino (you aren't close to anything else). If you do stay there, definitely rent a car to get to Christiansted and make sure you try Duggan's Reef Restaurant which is about a 10 minute drive and way better than anything at the Divi. In summary, I would not stay there again. It is a functional hotel, but this place is not what you would typically expect in a resort type facility.
Not my idea of a Resort
This hotel was a disappointment. Much of the property is in dire need of attention and repairs. We found many things at the hotel that would not work and could not be fixed: room safe, hotel printers to print off our plane tickets, laundry soap dispenser, pool table, etc. The air conditioners in our rooms noisily droned on all night long. It made sleep difficult and near impossible. Some members of our group complained of bugs in the beds. The hotel would not discuss with us why 5 policemen were outside another room one day. Security was a problem. Some cash was stolen from our room. Pat the hotel manager was very nice. Many of the other employees were not so friendly. I would never stay at this hotel again.

I found the facility & staff at the Divi Carina to be top notch. The room was spacious & absolutely beautiful. The entire staff was pleasant & very helpful. This was my first time staying at the Divi Carina, but it won't be my last. I am currently planning my next trip to the USVI & the Divi Carina is the only place for me. From the time I checked in until I checked out the staff was there for me. I could call the front desk at any time of the day & night & the greeting was warm & friendly. While I was there I noticed the number of activities available to families with young children & there were also grown up activities as well. A very nice balance. As a woman travelling alone my number one priority is safety, I was comfortable on the property, walking the beach early in the morning or enjoying an evening at the Casino, I felt safe. If you are every in the USVI, PLEASE stay at the Divi Carina, you won't be sorry.
Not my idea of a Resort
We're not divers, but we wanted the beach and relaxation. This resort is in a very remote area so we got just that. We're glad we rented a car. We could come and go, explore & try different beaches. Well worth it!
