wonderful trip,friendly island
If you're looking for a relaxing beach vacation this is the place to go. What a difference from other islands that we've been to (St. Maarten,Antigua, St. Thomas, and Aruba). We found almost all the people in St. Croix to friendly, helpful, and proud of their island. It's worth it to rent a car and tour the island. We rented from Judi of Croix and by the time we had our luggage, our car was ready and we were at our hotel within 40 minutes of landing. We also took the tour to Buck Island from Captain Heinz which was fun . The Buccaneer was great. They gave us a free room up-grade. The view was lovely. Every single person at the Buccaneer was professional and welcoming. Maid service was good and were there twice a day. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. We always felt very safe. The Terrace restaurant was excellent, the filet mignon was great). We also ate at Duggans Reef which was excellent and Cheeseburgers which was good for casual. Schooners Bay ,which was just about a mile down the road, was a great deli for sandwiches. We hope to return soon.
wonderful trip,friendly island
My husband and I wanted to relax and enjoy each other, and the Buccaneer was the best place for that. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly, and there was plently to do at the resort and around town. The food at the Terrace wasn't spectacular, but very edible. I recommend the Galleon (at another resort) for dinner one night. The beaches are great. We can't wait to go back! We may even bring the kids next time. It was family friendly, but never at the expense of folks without kids."
Beautiful resort
The hotel staff was so incredibly friendly and attention to detail was evident. The only drawback would be the distance you have to walk to the beach which can be treacherous. Overall, The Buccaneer is a great place to stay especially with kids. The beaches are beautiful but don't expect long shorelines.
Visited The Buccaneer in July 2006. We had a wonderful time. The staff is amazing and the property is beautiful. Meals are pricey but the whole island is that way. We will return!
Overall, the hotel is pretty nice. Snorkeling right off the hotel beachs is awesome. The outdoor restaurants close at 6 p.m. After that, you must 'dress' for dinner to eat inside the main building - very expensive but very good.Be very careful with the trips the concierge will help you book. Some of them are quite the rip-off - seriously. Deep Sea fishing was an expensive, full-price bust - no fish. Do NOT use Catch-22 charters.
This hotel is gorgeous. It's a beautiful, quite place to relax. You won't be disappointed.
