Horrible Stay
Despite reading horrible reviews, we decided that the Westin couldn't be that bad. I was wrong! Our first room had a nice pool view but the jumbo screen was located outside our room for movie night. They were to do this twice during our stay and it was very loud. We could hear our neighbors conversations as if the door was open and they had a bunch of kids screaming. We complained and had our room moved. Our next room was in the "pool view" catagory still but had NO view with tall bushes in front of our window. We had these small ants around our sink, by the safe on the carpet, night stand, basically everywhere. The tile in the bathroom had no grout, I had an earring fall off the sink and fell in between the cracks of the tile! The hotel is very spread out. They have golf carts coming around to see if you need a ride but then feel pressured to tip everytime. The food is super expensive and not really great. We were there to get married in St. John on Hawksnest beach. All our other family stayed on St. Thomas at the Wyndham Sugar Bay resort. When I went to visit my parents I starting crying. They had a 5th floor full ocean view. The most beautiful view ever! Thats what we came to the Virgin Islands to see. Long story short.. we only stayed at the Westin 2 nights. I checked out at 9am, had our wedding at 945am, and took the ferry to St. Thomas to check into the Wyndham. We had an AWESOME stay over there and highly recommend it. Cheap beach cafe that was good, great water sports, VERY friendly staff.
Horrible Stay
My wife and I have vacationed at the Westin St. John 5 times in the past 10 years, This was our 6th time there and I dare say our last. The resort is in dire need of remodeling. The rooms are clean and the cleaning staff are very pleasant. The front desk is brutal, I mean brutal!! For the first 5 days we woke up to a huge puddle in side our room in front of our patio door. (It really stunk, moldy at best) "Maintenance engineers" repeatedly tried to solve the mystery with out success. All the front desk would say is your on an island, things happen. IMO at a night Things should be right, I don't care where you are. I could go on and on with my latest experience with the resort but it would sound as if I were bashing them to an extreme. The bottom line is I spent Top dollar to stay at a 4 star hotel. My wife and I were treated rudely by the front desk staff including the shift managers. All they were interested in was scamming you into a 1 1/2 hour time share tour. Please look else were if you want a relaxing vacation on St. John.

It is a shame that such a great location has been allowed to detriorate to this level. The Westin St. John seems to be placing its capital in building time shares and not back in its rooms. Even the website is out dated. The first room we were placed in, a one bedroon suite, had furniture that was well beyond it lifes and the bathrooms and cleanliness were well below what would be expected for rooms in this price range (or a Holiday Inn for that matter). After being moved to a two bedroom Villa, the facilities were better but still not close to what would be expected. Even things such as the mats on the pool chairs are in great need of being replaced. And at a supposed "world class" resport, you should not have to check beach towel out with a threat of being charged if not returned. I highly recommend St. John but not the Westin.
Horrible Stay
i'm going to keep this brief......this hotel is not worth the money. the rooms were dated and not very clean. for one the shower was frightening! there was only 1 restaurant open for dinner which was not worth the . do NOT let the pictures posted fool you; like it fooled us. the pix that you see w/ the modern amenities is not what you are going to get....the pix are from the westin time share villas. if you are fortunate enough to stay at the villas then by all means go. but if you are planning on staying at the resort i would PASS!!!! i couldn't wait to go home to the comfort of my clean apt.

We went with a group of 40 people for a wedding. What a great time in Paradise the Westin is. We had the Pool/Garden Rooms which are in the best location and close to the fantastic pool. It is in a great secluded location and with their own private beach! No sharing with other hotels or Cruise Ship Passengers! The food was okay. The food was great at the Pool Bar! The hamburgers and pina coladas were amazing! They have a tour desk right there on property with many options of fun things to do. Beds were comfy cozy and decorated beautifuly. Bathrooms were large and nice amenities. I felt VERY safe and secure walking around the property late at night and alone. Run, don't walk to the Westin St John!
St.John
This the 4th year we have taken our family to this resort. It has deteriorated in quality of rooms and service. Our */person trip to the island from the airport on the Westin ferry was a 3 hour wait and a cab ride to an old boat. Cockroaches in our room and the beach bar. Carpet nails sticking out of carpet, which had bleach stains. Not given face clothes and hand towels daily. Also the case for our son's room which had no coffee cups, etc. Management, maintenance has slipped, no longer meets criteria for high class resort. Always loved going there but this year disappointing.
