Not so much Fun in the sun

Travelocity   by  anonymous  on  May 18, 2008

Just returned from 7 wonderful days at the Tam! I loved the Tam as we could also walk over to the Divi and hang out at the outdoor bars, pools and have meals there. I recommend the Red Parrot as it was our favorite! The Paparazzi Italian place at the Tamarijn was excellent except that the service was sooooo slow! The food was great though....I recommend the risotto - the best I've ever had! The rooms were small but soooo clean. My only complaint was I E-mailed the Tam 3 times prior to arrival to request a first floor king room, and we recv'd a second floor with balcony with 2 queens. Didn't matter much to us though because we were only in our room to sleep and shower....the rest of the time we were outside enjoying the beautiful weather! Everyone was really nice and helpful. You can plan ALL of your activities, including renting a car or jeep for a day right there at the resort. We can't wait to go back next year! Don't expect a 4 or 5 star resort...it is definitely 3 stars but the beaches, food, drinks, concierge and housekeeping can't be beat! Nathy the concierge was the MOST helpful person I have ever encountered at a resort.

We loved the Tam, and are planning a trip back in June! Food at restaurants very good, we made reservations every night with no problems. Great drinks, not watered down. Great kids activities, lots of free stuff given away for games, etc. We came home with wine, champagne, t-shirts, etc. Our teen kids loved the late night pizzas, ice cream and sandwiches. We loved the bars and the beach. Rooms are average size, clean and right on beach. We were in 2300 building, we walked to wider beach further down. Casino was a fun diversion in the evenings, and we did take the bus downtown for shopping one day, very cheap. Best all-inclusive we have ever been to, and it is truly all-inclusive. They don't ask for add'l tips, etc. Food is very good at sit-downs. Our favorite was Paparazzi (service is slow though). Where else can you get steaks, lobster, shrimp, etc with a glass of wine in a lovely restaurant all-inclusive? Stay here, you won't regret it. And the kids are FREE!

Wonderful time. Just got back last night and am ready to go back again. Our experience was great from start to finish. Only one complaint, the beach became very dirty from a couple of night storms that blew through and as soon as that was brought to the attention of the management it was taken care of. Ocean front room and walk right out of our door onto the beach. The food for an all inclusive was excellent! We up-graded so we could use the facilities at the Divi and it was worth the little extra. Top shelf booze was a great, unexpected bonus as we are Dewars fans. All of the staf were friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel. I think the beach area at the Divi is really nicer than the Tam.....wider and less rocks. Can't go wrong at either place. We loved every minute of our stay! RC

friendly staff, variety of atomospheres make for an excellent vacation. Once you check in the only thing left for you to do is enjoy yourself. Oranjestad is lovely and there are several nicerestaurants where you can eat, but the beauty of the Tamarijn is you can travel around all day,and come to the restaurants at the resort and enjoy all your meals and beverages. All meals atthe resort are excellent. I look forward to many more vacations there.

The Tam was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of the big hotels but close to everything. Our room was clean and comfortable and was just a few steps out of our door to the beach and ocean. No going thru big air conditioned hotel lobbies to get to the beach. Food was very good, drinks were NOT watered down which I worried about since it was all inclusive. STaff was friendly and helpful at all times. We felt like guests of friends. This was our first time staying at an all inclusive and we LOVED it. We still definitely go back there next time we go to Aruba.

This was a great resort! We were right on the beach and never had any trouble finding a spot on the beach. The food was delicious and always available somewhere. The staff was very friendly and made great drinks! We would go back in a second, and are planning to at some point! We had such a good time. Aruba is the best!

Great place to relax and enjoy the water. Plenty of sights to see that are easily accessible, but you don't even need to leave the hotel to have a good time.

The island is beautifull the people are pleasant. They are efficent and on time. We did tours with DePalm at least 1 per day and cannot say we didn't have a great time on all of them. Every where you went and everything you did you always had enough if not to much food and drink to consume if you wanted it. I almost forgot the best part of Aruba US custom before you climb on the plane to return home to the good old USA.

My Mom and I stayed at the Tamarijn and I would highly recommed this place to everyone!!!! We had a wonderful time. The resort was very clean and the staff were so ppolite. We are already talking about our next trip to the Tamarijn. My ONLY suggestion....bring your coffe pot. There aren't any in the rooms, but they have everyting else you could ask for and then some.

The rooms are just average, but the ability to walk out your room onto the beach is well worth it. The food is like anywhere else from ok to really good. Service is typical for the Caribbean, slow. Would I go again? Yes, that was my 7th time at that hotel in Aruba.

    Great getaway!

Rooms small, but very nice. Rooms right on the beach. Food was good and entertainment good most nights.

The Tamarijn was a wonderful place. All the rooms are oceanfront (with beautiful sunsets!). The staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was good and the atmosphere was always upbeat. I will only stay at the Tamarijn when I go back!

There were six of us and we had the best vacation ever. The rooms were right on the beach and they were very clean. The buffet was wonderful (something for everyone). The staff and the people in Aruba are very friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was lacking and could use some improvement. But I've been to several all inclusive and I must say this is the best one ever. We ate out one night at Madame Jeanette and it was terrific. We're going back for sure.

The hotel was great. We had a bottom floor patio room deluxe suite. Although it was a little runned down, our back door was literally feet from the ocean. We had a room further down away from the food and bars, activities, but its fine if you don't mind a stroll on the boardwalk. I can't wait to go back! I wouldn't do it any other way!"

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Tamarijn September of 2006 and we absolutely loved it. The beach was absolutely beautiful and only a few steps away. We found it much more intimate in the low rise section of Aruba! The only problem we had was with our toilet...lol When you're in a place as beautiful as the Tamarijn in Aruba you can looks past that! I can't wait to go back.

We've been to the Tamarijn twice - enjoy the unhurried pace and good service.

The Tam is a great hotel for both the first time and return visitor to Aruba. The first hotel once you are out of the town, Druif beach we believe is the best on the island! It is quiet & hardly rocky at all....And we have never seen it crowded :-) The food and atmosphere is great!

We traveled to Tamarijn for 7 nights for our 25th anniversary. The hospitality of the entire island is great. Great exploring opportunities, good food, great atmosphere. Excellent bargain at all-inclusive rates.

We spent our 30th wedding anniversary at the Tam and had a wonderful time. Best part was the all inclusive, and also being right on the beach (we were in building 2100) and not having to fight for elevators. The staff was friendly and always helpfull (the bartender at the Bunker Bar was a hoot). The food was good (Paparazzi was excellent). Only complaint was the AC was loud and turned on and off constantly all during the night (next time we will bring a small fan). The rooms are small, which did'nt bother us. We will stay there again next year.

Great place. It should be rated more than the two stars. Must be due to this being more family resort.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Tam. The staff was very friendly and the all inclusive plan was great. The food was so much better than we expected. The rooms could use an update but you can't beat the view! We will definately be back next year.
