Perfectly acceptable room. Nothing fancy, but then nothing bad. Shower water pressure could be better. More than one electrical socket (which was already fully used) would have been nice for charging devices. Otherwise fine if all you need is a place to sleep.
The hotel is old but kept up & clean. Television reception is very poor, as is the manager's concern when i informed him. Its a good location to the Loop & train, walking distance. ok for 2 star
Great location but not the best hotel
The location of this hotel was great. Within walking distance of Grant Park (Buckingham Fountain), Shedd Aquarium and the El Station. We had ...
Hotel is average. Room was clean and neat. It's small. No noise from other lodgers, but the air conditioner might be a little noisy for some. Good idea to bring earplugs if you're sensitive. Only problem was the wake-up call. First night, phone rang 20 times before someone picked up. Second night I requested a 5:00 AM wakeup call. It came at 6:00 AM. I missed my shuttle to the airport. They did not pay for a cab, and I ended up taking the subway to O'Hare.
Great value Poor Service
The Travelodge Chicago is good basic accomodation. For your money, you get a decent bed and bathroom with clean linens. That's it. I did not...
Bathroom very new and nice. Room clean except for vacuuming in hard to reach places. Room very crowded. Walls need attention - paint, repair. Elevators need work. Met our needs for the price, but that is all. Good for the one night we stayed.
You are close to everything. Good acess to Chigago Transit Authority buses, overhead urban train & subway. Good place for breakfast in lobby. Good Restaurants nearby. One block to Madison Avenue. Good view of Sears Tower. Room Wireless Internet by paying with credit cards. Some electricity problems. Very nearby to the Chicago Hilton Hotel.
Everything was OK for the price. Could have been a little cheaper. They hallways were a mess. The rooms were large but the TV was small. This would be the perfect hotel for families that would be getting out to walk the streets of Chi-Town.
I think this hotel is basically what you would expect for a travelodge. The front desk service was a little cold and distracted. The room was clean.
Huge room & very nice bath: staff friendly & professional; many good pillows; Rm418 faces EL but not too noisy. Wireless Hot Spot service weak; TV remote needs battery; No chain on door; Hum on phone; Hallway HORRIBLE; Towels were typical for Travelodge. Good price for sleeping in Chicago loop area. I was traveling on business & needed to be downtown. I would stay there again.
hotel clean, staff frienly and helpful

Served the purpose needed.
The hotel was fine. The only downfall was the closeness to the subway which made the room noisy.
The room that I had was not a large room and it was over furnished. It had 2 full size beds, a desk that was not very usable, a 6-drawer dresser, and a desk chair. The desk was at the foot of one of the beds and so close that the chair was only usable in the area between the beds. This room was crowded with furniture and if that was not bad enough, I am handicapped and had a mobility scooter with me. I had requested a room that would accomidate my scooter, this room barely had room for my scooter in the entry way. It could not go any further into the room since the bed was in the way. I had called the reservation number on their web site to make sure that I would have the kind of room that I needed, but I didn't get that kind of room. If the room had had only 1 bed it would have been a much better room. I am not sure that I would ever stay at this hotel again. I stayed there once before and had a handicap room with all the room that was needed and I had hoped to have that kind of room again. They would not even try to find a room that would give me more room for my scooter, even if it wasn't a handicap room. Maybe they have all or most of their rooms over furnished like the one that I was in. I would be very reluctant to stay there again or to recommend this hotel to anyone.
A fairly cheap place to stay in a hot location. If you want a nice place a couple of blocks away, it will cost you close to double the price. On the plus side the bath room had recently been redone, it was clean too. The sink was a pedistal, so the only place to put toiletries was on a small glass shelf. The bed was fine, linens seemed clean. The carpet was pretty nasty, old/kind of dirty. The halls were dingy looking. The staff was pleasant. The hotel is 1 block to the red line/4 blocks from the el. A mildly clean place to crash that is not just filthy, and still on the cheaper side. "
Small room, that's OK. Helpful staff, yes! Noisy heating pipes and a filthy bathroom, not so good. There are better values in the downtown area if you're on a budget. I'd consider your other options before booking here
I will never stay here again!

Unfriendly front desk staffRude parking garage attendantMusty smell
holes in the bed sheets, tattered bath towels, painfully slow elevators, clogged shower drains, and barely any decor made this hotel less than impressive
Rooms need serious renovation. The room had a noisy window air conditioner unit. We were on the 3rd floor and could hear the El passing by every 5 minutes. Using my hair dryer caused a circuit to blow. The building is so old - I don't think it's meant for modern electrical appliances. The maintenance people could not fix the electricity so we had to switch rooms in the middle of the night. Then neither one of the TVs worked in the new room. This place did not meet my meager expectations. Spend the extra 40 bucks to stay at a nicer place.

The room was small but clean and comfortable. There was some peeling paint in the bathroom. The El is VERY noisy so bring earplugs if you're sensitive. The elevators need some work. The staff was very friendly and VERY helpful. There was no view however, but I only slept here. A great location and very cheap for being so close to everything. The subway red line is just around the corner. Many nice restaurants nearby. Michigan Ave is one block away. I would come back. Perfect if you're on a budget.
