When we were originally booking our trip, we thought the price was too good to be true! Stay downtown at a Holiday Inn for so little? I'd been to Chicago many times before but had never stayed here. The hotel is on top of a high-rise (the lobby is on the 15th floor) and, if you can get past the rather generic decor, top-notch. The room was clean and comfortable (with a magnificent view--try and get one that faces out) and the service was unfailingly courteous. The one drawback in my opinion is the location--although it's right next to the Merchandise Mart and its rail station, it's a bit of a hike both to downtown and the Magnificent Mile area. We ended up eating a lot in the good though standard hotel restaurant because there wasn't much else close by.

Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The security guard on the first floor in the lobby was very great with directions that enabled us to get around the city. Breakfast was very expensivein the hotel restaurant, I probably wouldn't eat there again simply because of the price (but the staff was very good). Easy access to public transportation - the "L" was great and much easier to use than I thought it would be. The view of the city from our room was great! It was kind of exciting because the weekend we stayed was the weekend of the marathon, very exciting!
May be a litte away from Michigan avenue, but didn't bother me. Besides, it's close to highway exit. People woking at this hotel were very nice & friendly. Room I stayed had great view of the city. I took a lot of pictures. Room was nice enough to me although it's not four seasons room. Overall, I was very happy to stay here.
