having once lived in NOLA, I usually opt for garden district hotels when I visit, but I was pleasantly surprised with Le Meridien. Loved the t...
We purchased a package deal with night/ 4 tickets to aquarium or zoo/ breakfast for 4. They didn't have the tickets to aquarium when we checked in, and when we went to have breakfast, 56 was charged to our room, it appeared that no one who worked there had an idea about the package I purchased via the internet, thank goodness for receipts! The restaurant is in the physical facility of the hotel, but a Don Shula steakhouse, seemed completely separate when you tried to deal with one or the other. We had toilet problems in our room, after waiting 6 hours for someone to come, the 2 fellows who did come(who were great) couldn't fix the problem. Had to pack up and move to another room. Bigger room, which was nice, but very noisy, by the elevator shaft on the 30th floor :( Unfortunately we wouldn't stay there again. Pool area very crowded, especially during the times of limited sunlight on the pool area, and no pool service (room service, drinks, lunch, etc.). There are too many choices out there. Keep looking
When I arrived to check in I was asked for a form of payment and that they were going to hold 50 on the account until I checked out. I've been to hotels that had done this before and I received the money back in my account promptly. Unfortunately, early the morning of check out I received a bill under my door saying they had charged to my card an additional 130 in taxes, extra occupants, and for parking. From what I understood when booking all my taxes has been previously paid and the reason I chose this hotel in the first place was because they didn't have an extra charge for more than two people. (It does say in the fine print that they can charge this fee, but most other hotels charge it up front, and stupid me assumed if there was a charge that it would have been in there already too). I was just surprised to find out that I had paid over 350 for one night in a hotel less than 75 miles from my house. I would have just driven back and forth--can't say this often, but gas would have been cheaper! Beds were very comfortable and staff was friendly--just wanted to warn everyone that what you pay to travel agency isn't near what you pay all together.
