Part of the reason we chose this hotel was because it had a better rating & it had free wireless internet. When I called down to get the code, they said it would be 9.95. I took it because I was tired & figured I would settle it the next day. I'm a cheerful negotiator, but the supervisor at the desk was pretty short & sharp. They said that the website didn't say that they WOULDN'T charge us. Funny. The wireless internet was shown with the hair dryers and irons and they don't charge for those either. They reversed the charge, but charged me for the 2nd day. I don't think that was appropriate. The bellman & the doorman were the nicest guys there. The concierge couldn't guesstimate how much a taxi was or tell us where the nearest subway station was.It was my first time in NYC. We had come in a couple days early to see the sites b4 a cruise to Bermuda which included a Friday night stay at the Sheraton Towers. I loved the city & the people we met elsewhere. The room was clean, but next time I'd stay at the Sheraton which coincidentally was slightly lower rated. The Sheraton Towers was a better room in the same price range with tip top service.

Granted, it is Manhattan but for 400 a night they could have at least thrown in the wireless internet. It was an extra 10/day. Also, if you are a smoker don't bother the entire hotel is smoke free. That is aggravating being on the 6th floor with slow elevators and having to go outside every time you wanted to smoke. The hotel has 17 floors, they could accommodate the smokers better, after all we are paying the same amount as the non-smoker. The area is a nice spot to stay being only a couple of blocks from Time Square. The staff was friendly. The rooms were a little small but that is to be expected in Manhattan. The bathroom barely fit one person, but were clean. The heating was old fashioned. No thermostat, when called the front desk they sent someone to adjust the heat but who wants to wait for someone to show up if it gets to hot/cold. The beds were okay. I have slept on worse. Due to the location I would probably stay again despite some of the little inconveniences, but I would definitely check out other options first.

The location of the hotel was wonderful. The hotel is a litle old so there were some issues with the plumbing. It was really loud. The walls were also thin. There is a great place just down the block to eat breakfast Pigalle. overall we would stay there again

We stayed in a renovated room which was very nice. Small, but that's normal for NY. My parents were in another room and they had lots of problems with water going cold, electricity blowing on them frequently. Front desk were not very apologetic and didn't offer any comp. Elevators are awful - extremely slow. Only stay here if you are a very patient person! Location is great though.

Travelocity   by  anonymous  on  May 2, 2007

This hotel is convenient to everything we wanted to do. But the room it self was not what we expected by the reviews on line. The mirror in the bath was not big enough for any view but your head. We saw other rooms much nicer after a couple of days in the hotel. I guess we just got the short end of a stick. Staff very friendly and made our hotel room able to bear.
