Hot New Vail Resorts

With several new properties and many existing property updates, get the latest in Vail accommodations.

Vail, Colo., is seeing some exciting changes that will make everyone’s favorite Rocky Mountain getaway even more enjoyable. Several new Vail properties are scheduled to open soon, while many existing properties have been enjoying much-needed facelifts.

Cascade Village

Home of the popular Vail Cascade Resort, which recently completed a $30 million renovation, Cascade Village is on the westernmost edge of Vail. Patrons of the Vail Cascade Resort can look forward to room enhancements, like air conditioning, as well as resort enhancements, like a fabulous new back deck and a new restaurant, Atwater on Gore Creek.

Atwater, which serves contemporary cuisine, is a favorite for nearly every meal. For breakfast, you’ll find a spread of fruit, pastries and even an omelet bar at the buffet, or order straight from the menu. Lunch and dinner menus feature farm-fresh and organic ingredients that are locally sourced. Try the Nachos Primo with lime chicken or green chili pork as an appetizer for any meal.

Take advantage of the Cascade’s spa, the Aria Spa & Club, whose locker rooms were recently renovated. Find inner peace in a rejuvenating spa treatment or burn some calories at Vail’s most extensive workout facility, featuring basketball courts, pools, indoor tennis and more.

Lionshead Village

With the 2008 completion of The Arrabelle, a hotel and residence, Lionshead Village has undergone an incredible transformation. The European-village architecture of The Arrabelle makes you feel more like you’re in Austria than Colorado. Along with The Arrabelle came an outdoor ice rink. While it may only be open during the winter, the rinkside outdoor fireplace will surely warm you on a snowy Vail evening.

Since the hotel’s opening, many new stores and restaurants have opened their doors. Shop at a variety of specialty stores, from hand-painted Swedish footwear at Tessa’s Clogs to high-performance snowboard gear at Burton. The Vail Chophouse, like its sister restaurant in Beaver Creek, is located at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola with spectacular views of the mountainside and a menu to match.

In late 2010, Lionshead will welcome the opening of the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Residences, featuring 71 luxurious homes, ranging from two to six bedrooms. The property will be within walking distance of a new proposed ski lift to the Vail mountain.

Vail Village

Vail Village, the heart and traditional center of life in Vail, has been ground zero for a bulk of the construction for several years. Two of the largest and most anticipated projects for the Vail Village are the Four Seasons Resort Vail and Solaris Residences, both slated to be open in late 2009.

The Four Seasons Resort Vail, located at the main entry to the Vail Village, will be the luxury chain’s third mountain resort and the first Four Seasons in Colorado. Featuring both a hotel and residences, the full-service resort will have a variety of amenities including children’s programs, a private pool, full-service spa and more.

The Solaris will be more than just residences. The $170 million redevelopment project replaced 1970s-era structures with what will be 73 luxury condominiums, 60,000 square feet of commercial space, an outdoor ice rink that transforms into a water feature for the summer, a movie theater, bowling alley and more. The construction will also change the face of Vail’s East Meadow Drive by contributing over $1 million in public arts improvements for the street.

Ever Vail: Vail’s Green Future

Ever Vail is a new vision of the future for Vail. A proposed village and resort located on nearly 10 acres of land currently considered to be West Lionshead, Ever Vail aims to be the largest “green” resort village in North America.

In late 2008, the proposed Ever Vail project received the highest possible rating for the first stage of LEED-ND (Neighborhood Development) building standards. The $1.5 billion project will include a hotel, residences, a new gondola, pedestrian mall, public plaza and more, all designed with nature in mind.

Although still in the planning stages, Ever Vail, when completed, will surely set the standards high for new developments in Vail. Designed to integrate style with sustainability, you can be sure that Vail Resorts’ newest venture will deliver the same level of luxury that is expected from this world-class resort destination.
