Explore Rock Climbing in San Diego
Despite lacking the high mountains that most rock climbing destinations are known for, San Diego’s surrounding area has more than enough peaks and boulders to keep any climber content. Mt. Woodson, which looms to the east of the city, has more than 100 rated routes, great for going solo.
With routes for all skill levels and climbing types, Mission Gorge, located just minutes from downtown, is one of the area’s most popular climbing spots. Also a short distance from the city, a climbing area at Dixon Lake features boulders, cracks and steep faces, great for bouldering and top-rope climbs.
